Magnat Transpuls 800A Active Two-Way Speakers
Magnat Transpuls 800A – The beast is now active as well
You'd love to have a Magnat Transpuls everywhere, wouldn't you? This is now possible! The Transpuls 800A opens up completely new fields of activity for what is perhaps the most daring speaker series in our range. Why; There are two reasons: First, the Transpuls 800A is active. This means that the amplifiers are built-in. The 800A is also equipped with all kinds of connections, so it's not just a speaker system, but a complete hi-fi system.
Reason two: It's compact. Well, it's more compact than the other Transpuls models. At its core, however, it's simply a rebel with compact dimensions. Of course, you can use the 800A on a shelf or sideboard, as well as on your desk.
TECHNOLOGY LIKE EVERY TRANSPULS MODEL: PURE POWER IN ABUNDANCE
Let's start with the speakers. A Transpuls has a horn tweeter. The 25mm cloth dome single horn tweeter is powered by a powerful neodymium magnet, of course. The geometry of the horn has been perfectly calculated to ensure that the tweeter not only sounds extremely dynamic, but also very natural. Power and sound, what more could one want? Oh yeah, bass.
The woofer has a diameter of 17 cm. The powerful drive behind the stiffened paper cone with PA fabric base inspires the deep bass range for dynamic performance. Of course, we also used Klippel laser measurement technology here to detect and eliminate disruptive distortions. The result: A bass range that would make much larger speakers blush with embarrassment.
The innovative heart of the Transpuls, however, is the amplifier's electronics, represented by the 'A' in the name. It turns already underwhelming speakers into a complete hi-fi system. With 2 x 60 Watt continuous power and 2 x 120 Watt peak power, the amplifiers really heat up the speakers. By the way, both are hidden in the right active speaker, while the left one is simply connected by a speaker cable. This makes wiring a breeze.
BLUETOOTH, HDMI AND EVEN VINYL
If you want to keep things simple, just connect your smartphone via Bluetooth and you're good to go. Bluetooth aptX means you can use Transpuls to play your music library, as well as every streaming service imaginable, in optimal high-resolution sound quality.
The HDMI input also makes the Transpuls 800A a perfect addition to your TV. The TV's corresponding HDMI port (marked “ARC”) provides movies, series and of course music, with a completely different acoustic dimension.
There's also an optical digital input that supports signals up to 24-bit/192kHz and is therefore capable of reproducing high-resolution audio. On the analog side, the Transpuls has a jack that allows most portable devices to connect easily, as well as an RCA input. A phono preamp can be switched on for this, allowing you to connect a turntable directly to an MM system. Yes, we've already said it, but the Transpuls 800A is truly a complete stereo system. And the included remote control lets you operate everything from the comfort of your sofa. If you can't find the remote, you can use the input and volume buttons on the back of the Transpuls unit.
The exclusive solid metal type plate on the front of the speaker also confirms our attention to detail. The IR receiver for the remote control and the LED for the status indicator are also hidden in the active speaker.
Magnat Transpuls 800A – Compact, but not small
Measuring just 385mm in height, 240mm in width and 215mm in depth, the Transpuls 800A fits easily into any rack. However, it should still be sturdy, because firstly the set weighs 14 kg and secondly, its dynamic capabilities require a sturdy installation location.
The precisely calculated geometry of the tweeter horn, characteristic of the Transpuls series, offers a brutal pulse fidelity. And the bass range is by no means inferior, because the hardened 170 mm paper cone with PA fabric base also ensures a purely dynamic performance. In addition, there are also selected components in the crossover and robust connection terminals for. Transpuls may look like a bookshelf speaker, but inside beats the rocking, musical heart of a fully-fledged hi-fi system.
