Debates over which disc rotation principle is best, belt or direct-drive, are almost as old as the disc player itself. Direct-drive sounds more dynamic in the ideal scenario and has better timing. However, because the motor is directly on the turntable and therefore has to run extremely smoothly, it is much more complicated and therefore more expensive. Magnat has achieved something special with the MTT 990: a high ride with all the advantages of direct drive and with an excellent price-performance ratio
